Hi, Our Favorite Spanish Learner!
Welcome to our blog!! I’m so excited that you are here! I’m Micki Orozco. Together with my husband Luis, we have created the blog “Spanish Unlocked.” This blog is where we teach everyday, conversational Spanish. We also talk about Mexican Fiestas and culture and share some delicious recipes. Basically, we’ll include all things Spanish to make your Spanish language learning fun and easy!
As my husband is from Mexico and I learned Spanish while living in Spain, the language spoken at our home is Spanish. Although Spanish is our common language, we’ve found out that my Spain Spanish is pretty different from my husband’s Mexican Spanish. In fact, when we first got married, this seemingly slight difference led us to a series of funny but a bit frustrating episodes. By now, I have learned quite a bit of Mexican vocabulary, and my husband has learned to read my mind. Actually, not yet, he is still working on mastering this skill, but he has expanded his vocabulary to include Spain Spanish as well.
So, to avoid any confusion, we will be focusing on Mexican Spanish on this blog for the most part. However, I can’t promise that I can stay away from talking about tasty tapas and wine in Spain once in a while…
What You Will Learn
In this blog, you will learn colloquial, conversational Spanish. We will cover some formal dialogue for travel, but we will provide more dialog friends and family would use in their everyday life. In addition to posting dialog in a written format, we plan to upload some language learning tips, sound files, or videos.
